pericardial effusion and hyperinflated lungs

I am 38 year old healthy female--I had a full hysterectomy due to cervical, uterine and ovarian cancer in Spetmeber of 2006.

I was/am having chest pain, shortness of breath, dizzyness, swelling in my feet/ankles/calves.

My doc originally thought I may have a P.E. and sent me in for a CT scan.

The CT scan showed no PE but instead, fluid around my heart.
Additionally, I was told I have "hyperinflated lungs"
and my EKG showed a slow heart rate.
My doc said he thinks it may be MOLD on my lungs?

I have NO IDEA what I should be doing now.
I have never had trouble breathing before.  I coughed once and BAM...lost my voice and couldn't breath.

any info would be helpful as I have family bugging me since I haven't DONE anything.
Thanks.

The "mold" your doctor describes may be related to your history of cancers.  It sometimes infects patients with cancer due to immunocompromised state.  People with this condition tend to develop reactive airway disease, very similar to asthma, and require treatment.  Bronchodilators tend to help.  you should however see a pulmonary specialist to work this up further.  Furthermore, I think it is extremely important to make sure that there is no recurrence of cancer as it may occasionally present as pericardial effusion (fluid around the heart) or abnormal lung findings.  I would be less concerned about that, however, because your CT chest was quite unremarkable.

If my doctors don't seem worried...should I just ignore it?

I am assuming my echocardio results were normal since I haven't gotten a call about it.
My cough has gotten worse though.  I am going to assume too that it my chest clearing up?
:)

Thanks for the words.  It would be helpful if the docs we see inthe OFFICE would actually explain stuff to us. LOL

*I do not smoke, I work out 4-5 times a week, I am not over or underweight and there is not history of anything like this in my family.
