Pericardial effusion is the accumulation of excess fluid around the heart andit can be serious. For some insight there is a doubleDouble-tussin dm layer (sac) that surropunds the heart called the pericardium. The space between the layers normally contains a very small amount of fluid.
When the volume of fluid exceeds the normal level the pericardial effusion puts pressure on the heart, causing poor heart function. Small anterior is the location on the heart were there is some effusion.
