periodic vibration in left side of chest

Hi! I was diagnosed with a benign mitral valve prolapse 15 years ago.
About 2 weeks ago, I started feeling a subtle vibration in the left side of
my chest.  The vibration lasts for about 3 or 4 seconds (sometimes longer),
stops for a few seconds, and then starts again.  This has been occuring
almost 24 hours a day (there are occasions when I don't feel the vibration
for a few hours) for the last two weeks.
I usually feel the vibration when I'm at rest.  There are no other symptoms.
I've been exercising regularly and have not experienced any shortness of
breath or pain of any kind.
I went to a Cardiologist and he said he thought it was maybe just a muscle
spasm (maybe caused by low potassium).  I find this explanation a little
hard to believe.  I've had muscle spasms before but never in the left side
of my chest, almost continuously for 2 weeks. I haven't had an ecg yet but
plan to.
I wanted to get someone else's opinion as to what the problem could be.
I'm a 29 year old female.  I don't drink or smoke.  I'm very active
(play raquetball, jog, etc.) and never have any problems when exercising.
