tnk u so much erijon, my EF is 68%.... and both systolic and diastolic functions normaly...
Much depends on your EF%, do you know what yours was? If it's normal, between say 50 -75%, then it's not too much of an issue. It will need to be watched over the next few years to see if it's progressing. If you can correct the underyling issue you may see some regression in the dilation, but not much with the wall thickness. Also, does your echo report mention any diastolic dysfunction? That would be common with this condition, it's basically a reflection of the hearts ability to refill between heart beats which may cause some of your symptoms.
I am at the upper limit of wal thickness myself, but with a normal EF my cardiologist says it's not an issue and I should recheck it in 5 -7 years if I want. Again, you need to know what your EF% was.
Hope this helps,
Jon
my doctor gave me beta blockers for 2 months. by the way i'm 33 yrs 0ld, 192 lbs... is this serious? im too nervous...
We are not doctors so we can't really diagnose this, just give our impressions. You have a dilated left ventricle with thickened walls. The walls are all contracting normally except the wall separating your two ventricles, it is mildly hypokinetic meaning it does not contract like the rest of the walls in your left ventricle. This is most likely due to the thickened muscle in that particular wall.
What is important is the underlying cause. You need to get your doctor to tell you what caused this, i.e. high blood pressure, and get that corrected to keep your left ventricle from becoming more dilated. What has your doctor told you?
I hope this helps,
Jon
