Dear wishngyouwell,
Without examining you it is very difficult to say what this lump may represent. If I had to guess I would say that it is a lymph node. Lymph nodes may enlarge and become tender during upper respiratory illnesses. Again, this is only a guess. I would suggest consulting with your doctor for a medical history and physical examination. Hope you concerns are relieved.
Thanks for your question,

Get to a doctor! No one on the internet can give you the slightest idea what this is! Nor should they try to guess; the only way you will know is to get it checked out.
hi christi, thanks for your reply ,i have already aranged to see a doctor on the isue this comming week .i figured the good doctor with the heart forum may be able to shine some light on the isue. sense it may or may not be vascular, it is not far from the jugular and other veins in the area (blood colt had crossed my mind but i don't think that is it .i was a little worried about the portal varices condition i have was the main reason for the question .but i'm sure it is nothing , but the lump in it's self has me quite concerned i have a lot of cancer through out my family past a present so it tends to make you stand to att.when lumps raises up out of no where and accompanied by the symptoms i'm having .this health thing that i have been going through non stop is taking it's toll. before i can get one thing fixed or under control several more takes it's place .it is one thing to have a disease it is another to have many .it is putting such wear and tear on my nerves ,( sorry rambling ) well maybe when he answer the post it may or may not help ,but it is worth a try !!! ,god bless ,wishinmg you well
