positive test for ischemia, right atrial enlargement, t wave abnormality

by arturoms, Aug 08, 2009 03:05AM
I recently went for medical screening for my job and one of the tests required was the treadmil ECG.  When I received the report almost a month later, there is remark made by the doctor 'Positive treadmill test - advise cardiologist review'.

My pretest ecg reads - 'normal sinus rhythm, right atrial enlargement, T wave abnormality, consider inferior ischemia'

Final report - Baseline ECG: sinus rhythm. T inversions in leads II, III, aVF, V4 to V6
Exercise ECG: 1mm horizontal ST depression in leads II, III, aVF, V3 to V6 during stage 3 exercise
Recovery: No ST changes. Normal heart rate recovery
Conclusion: Positive test for ischemia at 90% of predicted maximal heart rate and 8.9 METS.

Could anyone please tell me what it means?  I'm a worrier and I've been worried sick thinking that I might have some kind of a heart disease :(   I have an appointment with a cardiologist on 26 Aug and I think i'll be losing sleep from now till that date. I would really appreciate any replies so that I'll be better prepared.  Thank you so much..

Just hang in there and relax.  Take it easy!  When you see the Cardio do they will do more tests.  It is a very good thing to catch them early IF there is any concern.  I think i read that Treadmill tests are not 100% accurate.  You will probaly have a couple of more NON invasive tests.  Dont worry.  It only worsens YOUR STRESS!

If you need anything please feel free to ask.  I think the hardest part is waiting for appointments.

Take care and good luck.  Let us know about your tests.
