Dear bennie,
Lisinopril(Trade names Prinivil and Zestril) belongs to a family of drugs called ACE (angiotnesin converting enzyme) inhibitors. These drugs are used in the treatment of hypertension, heart failure and following heart attacks. The usual dosage for lisinopril is between 10 and 80mg once a day. Potential side effects from ACE inhibitors include cough, edema (swelling) in the lower extremities, high potassium and a decrease in kidney function. The most common reason people have to switch to another drug is due to cough. Muscle pain is not a typical side effect and the ACE inhibitors are not related pharmacologically to the statins to my knowledge.
Hi
My High Blood Pressure reading is 90/130. I've been taking Atenolol 50 gm daily for the last one year, due to the side effect of poor erection.
For that reason, I stop taking Atenolol and switch to Prinivil 10 mg, knowing later that Prinivil might cause side effect on Kidney.
May I have your recommendation of any drug that will not have side effect for high blood pressure or the least side result and be able to produce good result.
My detail as follow:
Male at age 41 also with High Cholestrol level at 250, LDL 163, HDL ratio 5.3 and my Triglycerides 211. I'm also having ache on my lower back for the last 3 months.
Most appreciate your prompt reply and happy holiday.
