Have you even discussed these symptoms with a doctor? They are strange. I would see what a doctor has to say about them. Good to see a post from you Flycaster. Had me quite worried this week. Take care, Ally
I know ireneo, you can trust her advice regarding critters. She rescues and handles all sorts of critters, and she continues to thrive. I agree, check with your doctor if this fear continues.
I suppose there are some exotic parasites that could migrate to the heart tissue but I doubt they're found in the average household cat. I work with wildlife and am exposed to all kinds of weird bacteria, parasites and such but have never gotten sick from any of them. The worst (besides rabies) would probably be baylis ascaris, a type of round worm commonly found in raccoons. Doesn't cause them any problems but in other animals it can settle in other places like the spinal chord or brain. But I doubt you've been eating raccoon poo lately so you're safe.
The best thing to do is check in with your doctor. S/he can check your heart, see how it's functioning. The strange sensations you're getting may be related to your digestive system too. But only your doctor can sort this out.
From what I can remember about cat worms (I have 3 cats), there are none that I recollect which aim at the heart and consume it. Most parasites from cats aim for the digestive tract but the hookworm loses its navigation ability in humans and just travels under the skin. You would see strange snake like blisters which eventually burst.
The best thing is to keep your cat wormed for its own health.
