pregnancy with cardiomyopthy

I am 41 years of age and have had 4 children.10 years ago i was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopthy and 1 year ago had an pacemaker implanted. i would like to know the possibilties of having another child?

Hello, I had a baby at age 40.  I thought I had HCM because my brother has it and several family members have died from it.  I am a nurse and nurses make horrible patients.  When I became pregnant (a shocker), I had to see.  At that point, at 4 months along, my septal thickness was 17mm.  After I had Ashton, my post-partum thickness was 26mm.  Now my baby boy is 2 and it is still thickening-currently at 29mm.  My cardiologist told me having my baby would speed up my disease process, but I didn't care, he is my miracle and he is perfect.    I consult with a transplant coordinator early 2012.   I had an ICD placed last April.  Hope this helps.
