As far as I know an Echocardiogram of the heart is going to show very little about the electrical portions of the heart. it shows the heart muscle, thickness of the chamber walls, the valves somewhat, etc. How the muscle of the heart is contracting, but is a rather general test when testing for an old MI (heart attack). There are other tests that would be more specific like an arteriogram (shows the coronary arteriy flow), an electrical study, and even a tread mill where they give you a radioactive isotope and then do testing afterwards on a treadmill while scoping you, then check you the next day, etc. I'm explaining this from a rusty old nurse view point. You need expert doctors to tell you exactly what they think is going on. If they can't, then get another opinion from an excellent doctor. What large city do you live near?
no, I didn't see it :( so sorry I would have sent back - nothing shows in my inbox
good thing they're not overlooking it, hopefully one of them will find some answers for you
I guess that is why I'm happy to have a female GP as well as a female cardiologist.. they are not overlooking it.
I will try to get to my gp to see the report soon. Thanks Lisa, and did you know I PM you yesterday? Just wanted to make sure you did as I answered one of your questions there(on them med) but it does not matter now as you already see.
Oh wow, so sorry you didn't get your questions answered, I know it's frustrating and one reason I switched my first cardiologist. I would send in a written request for all of your medical records from that particular doctor so you have a copy of them for your files if your gp doesn't give you a copy.
I did notice the anterior infarct which is concerning because some doctors do overlook stuff like this in women, especially in younger ages.
please keep asking questions and try to get a sooner date if you can bug them enough to get in just to be safe or is there any way you can get a 2nd opinion or go to another doctor so you can see what they say also?
.
she did not say, and to be honest I did not look at this until I got home. And I am not an expert I have no idea how to read this.
She said that no my medication is not the cause of what I have(but then went on and on how pharmaceutical companies have to put every thing in their side effects so she things no link at all) I just don't know to be honest. I feel she was not really even considering my medication(but then I question myself as she wrote it on the new ecg? She knew my meds before if she would have read the forums you fill out when going to the office kwim?) I just don't know..
I asked 3-4 times if she could please write down the I have but she would kinda change subject or what not, for some reason she would not write it down for me.. I just don't know why, she just wouldn't. I'm going to maybe drive to MY GP tomorrow and see if I can see the report she send them. She did say that I get tachycardia and that is what she is trying to control with meds, said that it is not life threatening(that it does not look like genetic is why she says that) so I'm assuming it is just Supraventricular tachycardia? Which is good news if that is eh! She put me on a lower dose of meds but said that it will not get it under 100% control but needs to start somewhere. She said the thing that concerns her for the most part is my ecg's. She said looking at the print out.. any Dr would say old heart attack. They keep coming back this way. But looking at print out and knowing my age, she needs further testings. She already had me on wait list for ultrasound of heart but said she will try to get me in sooner at a different hospital(the wait time for the local one is 4 months.. but the other hospital do the tests everyday of the week including weekends so they have a shorter wait) She said she does not know why my ecg showed this way, just does not know(she said this like 4 times) But said after ultrasound hope to know why. She said it is electrical and that a ultrasound would show where the problem is if there is a problem.
Hmmm what did your doctor say? can't say I know alot about Long QT syndrome except what I've looked for myself.
If they suspect LQTS they should do genetic testing to see if what mutations are there and then you would know for sure. At least 12 genes associated with long QT syndrome have been discovered so far, and hundreds of mutations within these genes have been identified.
I do know when I was researching, there were quite a many medications prescribed and OTC that could cause LQTS but not be genetic.
here is my new ecg from today..

it looks like it is borderline QT Progression?
that's what I've wondered about some of the meds I've been on - did they cause the problems or just a fluke...what are you taking?
thanks so much, I was just curious is all being I found some info on medication I am on(have been on for 8 years) causes a few heart conditions including arrhythmia and QT progression.
Here's an example of a Prolonged QT -

my QT/QTC - 398/473 but my QRS was only 102 in this EKG, whereas other times it's been 110
You do not have Long Q-T Syndrome based on those numbers.
I'm surprised they let the link stay. Usually we can't post links to anything here. Glad you found the answer.
so I just figured out there are numbers on the ecg. I guess mine is not prolonged.. these were my numbers.. again I have no idea how to read but I did look up online that under 440 is good..
Rate 56
PR 193
QRSD 97
QT 417
QTc 402
--AXIS--
P 40
QRS 85
T 75
