pulmonary hypertension?? systolic 27 mmhg?

by bananaslug98, Jul 26, 2007 11:32AM
hello, i just got a regular echo done  this week and it showed, once again, everything was normal. everything within the right sizes.. normal functioning, Ejection fraction around 60-65%, and trace tricuspid regurgitation and with that they estimated my *(systolic)* pulmonary artery pressure to be around 27 mmHg. now.. is 27 considered pulmonary hypertension??
ive heard varying things. anything from 15-25 mmhg and 20-30 mmhg.

they didnt say anything regarding PH on my echo report. and i wont be able to see or talk to my doctor until late august. he's on vacation.

im scared to death and this has been something ive been fearing for months now.

thanks.

I am not a doctor, but like we have all said, NO, that is fine.  echo is not accurate for PH.  BE HAPPY.

is this true? this is what i was asking about before:

"A systolic pulmonary artery pressure of 27 is not considered pulmonary hypertension.

Pulmonary hypertension is present when the mean (the average between systolic and diastolic) is greater than 25.  For this to happen, the systolic pressure is usually greater than 40 - 50."?

Do you want to have it?  Go ahead.  This is a perfect example of why the patients should NEVER get the results before seeing the doctor.  Jeeez.

I'll comment to get your question back to the top.

Hang in there. Don't give up on finding help.
