pulse vs blood pressure

by mardi9b, Jan 09, 2009 08:37AM
My plood pressure seems to correlate with my pulse rate. The lower the pulse rate the lower the blood pressure. Is this typical? Examples: pulse = 90, bp = 148/88; pulse = 89 bp = 139/84. Thanks, mardi9b

In general, the pace at which the heart beats, or heart rate, is counted in heartbeats per minute. Generally, when heart rate increases, blood pressure rises. When heart rate decreases, blood pressure drops.
