pvcs

I am 36 and was recently diagnosed with pvcs.
a holter monitor revealed 37,000 pvcs in a 24 hr.period.
I was put on toprol xl 25mg,with no help, now I am taking
50mg now for one week, with still no help.My cardiologist,
whom I have only seen the one visit just wants me to give the toprol
another week and call and report.I know this condition is common
but shouldnt other tests be ran to rule out other underlying health
problems,I did have bloodwork which was normal. To someone like
myself who has been told they have this condition, its kind of scary,
but seems like the doctors think its no big deal,Why would somebody
all of a sudden develop this??
                        Thanks!!!
