question about a 12 lead

question about a 12 lead

Hi, I ran a 12 lead on myself at work and saw my qrs complex is a little wide about .135.  I don't see any other signs of a bbb.  My qrs is negative in V1 with a negative T wave.  In I, AVL, v5, V6 my Qrs's are positive and so are my T waves.  My understanding on BBB is V1 is positive with reciprical T waves if it is right and if it is left V1 is negative with positive T waves with negative T waves in the lateral leads.  I am just curious about what it could be.  I am about to have a stress test done (all of our employees a required to at the end of the month) and my doctor says that it looks fine to him, but I am just curious. (and I'm only 24, a little young to be worrying about my heart)

Thanks

Hi Medic58,

Sometimes not knowing is better than knowing -- I am sure you would agree with this now.  It is probably easier to compare a RBBB and LBBBB on ekg than to describe it.  Look at this website for a picture of both types of BBB.  Having a positive T wave in I, AVL, V5-6 is not consistant with a LBBB.  Just out if curiousity, who measured the QRS duration -- it may be the source of error.  sometimes in young people it is easy to make mistakes because of increased voltage in young people and changes in the j point in some young people.

If it doesn't look like either of these and the QRS is wider than 120 milliseconds, we call this an interventricular conduction delay.

If you have a LBBB, a stress test if of no value except to determine your exercise tolerance.  You can not see ischemic changes in the setting of a left BBB.  If you do indeed have one, I would see a cardiologist to evaluate why this is the case.

I hope this helps. I doubt you have anything to worry about.  Good luck and thanks for posting.

I forgot to mention that I am of healthy weight (recently just lost 30 lbs), exercise reguraly, eat a near perfect diet, don't smoke or drink but just seem to have an obsession about my heart which causes some anxiety, which I am working on now.
