  Hi jason.
I am a 32 year old male triathlete. I am extreemly fit, done numerous triathlons running races etc... in the past 15 years and I have been experiencing "skipped beats",fluttering of my heart, tightness in my chest over the past 11months.
It all started when I was working on my car, I was getting quite angry at it and then the skipps started about every 10 beats and I was dizzy too.  I went to the hospital, hooked up to numeraous ekgs that said I was having premature atrial contractions so they checked me in for the night for observations and the next day the cardiologist said I was ok and sent me home.
The next day I went to his office and had an echo done that said heart was ok except for mild mitral valve prolapse with no regugitation.  He said that possibly  the mvp, my asthma meds, low resting heart rate, and stress could be causing the pac's.  A month later had holtermonitor test that said everything was ok.  Then went to a heartrythm specialist that basically said the same thing and he assured my I was ok and could do anything I want to ,marathons ,Ironman, etc...  Said palpitations are normal and everybody has them but most dont feel them.  Lately I have been having chest tightness and preasure which is almost intollerable at times. Im still working out and racing but sometimes its hard to stay motivated when you feel like hell.  Stress does seem to bring them on then other times they just happen. Very unnerving!
well, Ill quit talking now.  e-mail me if you want to talk.
  Hang in there!

Dear Andreas, thank you for your response to Jason’s question.  I suspect that the chest tightness and pressure you’re having now is entirely “non-cardiac” so try not to let it consume you and don’t let it keep you from exercising.  If you are able to do a triathalon, then I doubt you have any cardiac abnormalities.
Good luck!
