recovery time cardiac ablation

Hey guys I'm really actually extremely healthy.
I just had this stupid thing not even sure what its called. But I had to go to an electrophysiologist and told me that it was nothing serious just that it would be an annoyance.
So, given that since the skipped beat or whatever it was was getting really annoying I decided to go through with the ep study/ablation.
I had it monday and for the last few days I was occasionally getting like a rapid heart beat. I guess it has subsided a bit. I was wondering though how long till I can restart gymnastics, weight lifting, and sprinting?
Oh and I was also wondering, is it unusual for the doc not to tell you what to expect post procedure?
After the deal he told me that they could get the arrythmia going but that he found the pathway and that about 90% of the time this does the trick.
any help would be appreciated from you docs.
thanks
It really stinks

Typically you can return to nromal activity within a week or so.  Please discuss with your physician who knows your underlying condition better than I do.

Best of luck.

Hey! I had an EP study with possible ablation July 6th... They could not induce my arrhythmia so I was not able to have the ablation at the time. I was told to take it easy for a week after and no heavy lifting over 15 lbs....pretty much to take things at my own pace. I found I was having alot of odd flutters, runs of pvc's (which may be what you are feeling it feels like an extra beat) and fast heart rate for the first two weeks but after the two weeks I started to feel alot better.... . I do know it takes about 6 months for the ablation site to heal completely so you may get a few runs of fast heart rate or a few abnormal beats until the scar tissue heals but I am pretty sure thats normal. I would think it would irritate the heart a bit to have an EP study and ablation. I would talk to your cardiologist or family doctor about the runs of fast heart rate just to be on the safe side. I would for sure head into the emergency room if you get any other symptoms along with it such as syncope (fainting), dizziness or if the fast heart rate does not stop after 15-20min. Just so the doctors can see it on an ekg/heart monitor to rule anything serious out. Also if you experience any heat, swelling, redness or bleeding that you cannot stop with 10min of pressure on the incision site to go in and have it looked at.  This was pretty much what I was told by my cardiologist following my EP study. I am not sure if this helped any but This was what I was told to do following my procedure. Good Luck! :)
