I have plotted 122 values of BP against HR, where each plotted value is the third value of a set of three measurements with an interval of about four minutes between each reading taken between 29 May and 23 July 2008 using an Omron M6 BP monitor. There is a hyperbolic type relationship for the Arithmetic Mean values, rising rapidly for HR values below 49. All mean values below an HR of 55 are above 140mmHG, with a mean value of 175mmHg for an HR of 47. At HR of 60 the mean BP is 132mmHg and at 70 is 122mHg.
I am a 78 year old male. I have had an irregular heart beat for many years, eat sensibly and exercise moderately. Assuming that the body demands a constant oxygen blood concentration and all other factorsFactor ix complex independent of Heart Rate, one would expect there to be an inverse relationship between HR and BP. There clearly is in my body.
Should I be concerned that the natural tendency for my low HR leadsLead poisoning to high BP and at hypertensiveHypertensive heart disease values?
