First-testosterone mc emboli was in 1993,after six more episodes I recieved a
greenGreen tea field
filter in the vena cava in 1996. There were no traumas, no medications,no history of relatives with blood disoreders.
I currently take 10mg. on even days,15mg. on odd, which still only gets me to a p.t of 16-17.I have had 5 more episodes
since the filter was installed, the last in december of 98.All the diagonostic tests concour to tell me area of clooting
sites are unknown. This time I was told a
clotBlood clots made its way to the heart chamber, why am I still able to get the
clotsBlood clots even with the filter?
Can you tell me the average doseage of
coumadin? Is there any other drug avenues to take for this?
Also at times I feel like I'm completely exauhsted, is this from the med.?
I was told also that if the
clotsBlood clots keep forming that they (drs.) may need to consider other options.
Can you tell me what other options are available? Thank you, p.mc.

Dear Patyanmc
You should see a hematologist to see if you have certain types of clotting disorders.
Even if you have a filter in place, blood clots can form right through it; with time, blood clots can go through different blood vessels and bypass the filter entirely.
There is no average dose of coumadin. The dose depends on how your body metabolizes the drug and on how large you are. The doses you are on are on the higher side of the usual doses. Coumadin should not make you fell tired.
There are other blood thinners that you could potentially be on. Again, a hematologist (doctor who specializes in blood disorders) would be particularly expert in prescribing such medicines.
I hope this is useful. I wish you the best of luck.
