The risks of  the rotor blade procedure, also termed rotational
atherectomy, will depend on the specific anatomy of the arteries involved. Rotational  atherectomy is a procedure where clot or plaque blockage in a coronary artery is disrupted with a tiny rotatational screw or drill. The risks of this type of procedure include bleeding, damage or perforation of coronary arteries, heart attack, stroke, and even death. Please discuss with your physician. This procedure is often very effective and the specific indications and benefits may greatly outweigh any possible risks.
