scared and need help

wow i got in to ask a question, thank-you for being there for me. i need answers plz.

i went to my reg dr and last 3 times and my bp was high 154/88 in that range , so i called my cardio dr and went into see her
my bp was 150/93 that morning so she orderd a echo of heart and a 24 hour bp monitor

came home bp went low it was running 95/55 for two weeks,   had the echo and wore the monitor

went dr she said heart was great no big walls nothing great and she could see i did not have high bp on reg bases.  the bp monitor shows very low she said highest it got was 106/70. she said go home dont worry take it now and than see you in year.

that was tuesday this week. was not going take it yesterday because am a worrier and did want to start the high bp up again.

but i took it because i had felt a little stress all day because my back and chest was hurting  so i took it and wish i had not
it was 167/88 after that i took it a lot like every hour and at times it was 182/94, but than would not stay long in 30 mins it would be 160/83.

i take timilol for heart pacs so took my 5mg at 9 at 9:30 it was stillrunning in the 160/88 somewhere in there so i took a half of ativan which would only be .25. it started to drop and about hour/half later it was down to 115/65 i went to sleep. work up at 2 of couse thinging about it .

got up with hubby to get him off to work took its now 151/90.

is this stress with the test showing heart good and bp readings for 24 hours low?
or could the reaqdings be low because i didnt do much that day i had it on hard to do anything with it taking every 30 mins.

not sure what to do and as you can see a little scared because its high. thanks again

Isn't it amazing what our minds can do to our bodies? I went through a period of health anxiety and was in the same position you were in. I was taking my BP multiple times trying to get a good reading. I also had a really bad case of white coat hypertension, I couldn't get a reading under 150/90 in doctor's office to save my soul. It didn't matter if it was my family doc, cardiologist or orthopedic, always the same.

I did go on Benicar but still had high BP due to anxiety. It wasn't until I had a couple of nuclear stress tests and a few echos that the doctor finally got it through my think melon that I was OK and he suggested I start doing things to get my mind off my heart and that's when I started in on rebuilding old cars again. He had one caveat, under no circumstances do I check my BP more than once a day. I took his advice and started to break the habit. Before, I also had high BP at home because I would take it so often. As you know, when you take several readings at a time they always seem to trend up. Once I broke the habit, I just watched then numbers fall over time. It is very important that you track your numbers so you can see your progress, it really works.

Anyhow, hope this helps. Just relax, your tests show are good and your Holter proved that when you don't think about your BP you're fine. I know it's hard from experience, but step away from the monitor............

ally am so sorry you feel bad . what is the cause of your sob, lightheaded. is it the heart spasms, what causes them and do meds help.  i know my bp is a small problem compare to a lot of others and sad thing is am probleby doing it myself.   i know people have high bp for years before they evr take care of it. mines just been going on a few weeks and not all the time unless i take it and i scare myself to death.  i guess what scares me is when my chest hurts/ackes they say my heart good and sound but always a worry, i say its from my back where the rods are but than my mind says hum maybe its your heart.   we never know what we are going to do to ourselves and now am just doing my self in. going stop that today and do what dr says and ya and chill out.

are you going call or go to the dr today. your in my prayers . and thanks for your caring when you yourself feels so bad

We can be our own worst enemies at times.  I know, in my case, last night was rough for me.  I was so short of breath and exhausted.  This Texas heat didn't help matters either.  This morning I am very short of breath and lightheaded.  Even sitting, I have these symptoms.  I can either get scared and make matters worse, or I can acknowledge I have a problem that needs attention. If I get upset it just gets worse and causes me more heart ache. (No pun intended)  I will keep checking on you dear friend.  Ally

You are putting too much worry in this.  I still think you need to stop worrying about it so much and not take your blood pressure that often.  Try to relax more and not pay so much attention.  Then see what happens.  I have very high blood pressure and I prefer not to worry about it or check it.  If I do check it I get upset about it and then it raises even more.  I know when I broke (and I do mean a clean break) my arm, when I would go to the orthopedic doctor my blood pressure was way up.  Of course it was high.  I was in extreme pain and knew I would have to stretch that arm out for the X-Ray.  It was the large bone in the upper arm, so no cast was put on.  Try to relax and keep me posted.  Ally

thank you ED, i know i have been stressed over this i woke up at 2am than at 6am thinking about it. i have never had high bp and i guess its really playing on me, the reading of 151/90 was right as i got up i sat on side bed took it so had not been moving around yet. and i do sit for 5-10 mins before i take it but seems like when it starts pumpimg up i get stressed because scare what it will show.

i do not want to go on anxiety pills for this bp so i guess i need try and find away to lower it. just was unsure if while monitor was on if i should of did stuff more than sat around with it. always a worry. thank you for your help it always makes me feel better to hear from others when stressed out.

The anxiety you show over your BP will cause it to rise, this is human nature. If you were not anxious and sat relaxing for a few minutes before taking it, then the readings would be lower.
You have been monitored over a period of time so I would take this as gospel and forget about it. The blood pressure in our bodies is not the same all the time, if it was we would all be very ill and collapsing in the streets. If you get up, do some chores, get hubby off to work etc, then it's bound to go a bit higher. It could be that your blood pressure monitor is not very accurate.
