scheduled for 4th heart cath in 1o months

by shere519, Jan 25, 2008 12:06PM
I am a 48 yr old female smoker with a family history in heart disease. Had my 1st drug eluding stent last March after having symptoms sent me to the hospital. This stenting procedure resulted in a psuedo anuerism. During rehab 2 months later, it was reccomended that I undego another cath because of my blood pressure being unacceptable and that cath resulted in a 2nd stent neing placed in the same area but further down. In september having symptoms of mostly arm pain and some chest discomfort , I had another Cath procedure and was told there was a new blockage less than 50% so they did nothing.
I have been having symptoms more often and sometimes needing 2 Nitroglycerin to stop symptoms. These are mainly arm pain(left) almost always after climbing stairs or going into the cold and sometimes at rest.I am scheduled to have a 4th Cath done on Monday. I also have a small leak in my left ventricular valve which they dont seem concerned about. i take Lisinipril, Lipitor,Plavix, 325mg aspirin and protonix daily. The Dr who repaired my leg after the psuedo anuerism has told me repeatedly to quit messing around with this and have them do a bypass.
What would you recommend with the information I have been able to give ?
I hate to keep going through these cath procedures every few months. I know I must stop smoking but have not been successful yet.
If I am correct the blockages are in the left side and each and every one has been a new blockage, they tell me the stents are working beautifully .They always stress the new blockage is just below the where the stents are placed.
