second ablation

second ablation

Hi. In 2001 I was diagnosed with av nodal reentry tachycardia and had my av node ablated which left me with a pacemaker and complete heart block. When I went for a pacemaker interrogation a few months ago my tech asked me if I have been feeling okay lately. She said that my pacemaker had recorded some episodes of atrial tachycardia. She ordered an event monitor for me to wear and I recorded quite a few episodes and to make a long story short, in October of last year they sent me to see a different EP and he did a study and found that I had WPW on the other side of my heart that the other doctor missed. He also could not sustain a fast heart rate while he was in there. He has tried different meds, flecanide, metropolol, rythmol sr, etc. but to no avail. Now I had another phone check on my pacemaker and they said that I was in Afib so I had to come in the office. They caught the afib on 3 different tests that day. My EP wants me to come in tomorrow to talk to me about ablation. My pulse has been from 110 to 130 bpm ever since last wednesday. How is he gonna know what to ablate if he can't sustain a fast rythym while he is in there? If you would answer my question before in the morning I would sincerely appreciate it, cause that's when I go to him. Thank you.

I'm sorry I don't have the answer for you. Sounds like you're still in a-fib with that rate. I've had 3 ablations but they've never had trouble getting my tachy going. It's always a chance that the heart may get stubborn and be quiet on the day of ablation.

Ask your EP tomorrow when you go in, see if he thinks he can trigger your heart. It would be great to be rid of the a-fib.
