side effects

I have been on the internet for the last year trying to find anything on side effects of long term use of coumadin. I have been on it now for close to 10 years, I am 45 my hair started to fall out slowly a year ago, now it is falling out drastically, my vision is failing.  Does any one else see any of these symtons happening with the use of coumadin?  I would really like to know if it is my system or if possibly a side effect from the medication.

Dont know if this is any help or not , but here goes ! my father was on coumadin for meny years, as he had a implanted mech valve in his heart. its a blood thinner some doctors use alot. he had the hair loss too and vision problems from it, and also had internal bleeding happen, that not one doctor could find, you would think a good doctor would stop the medication and put him on another type ,but they didnt (hmo Kaiser)  for whatever reason unknown to his family or him. Coumadin was a few months or year ago reported in the news - for adverse effects or something not to safe about it

It might be wise to ask your Cardiologist or Doctor to maybe check into it.. and switch you to another
type of safer medication to take.

I thank you for relying, however I have been told from my Cardiologist coumadin is the only blood thinner out there for mech. valves.  When did your fathers hair loss and vision problems start?  After several years of taking the med?  I have been told all coumadin is is rat poisening, have you ever heard this?

next refill ask for the insert.  I would think it would have some reference to long term use.

It was a few years back - his hairloss ( thinning ) started on or about the 2nd year of taking the drug
vision problems set in within 6months of taking it. as he never had vision problems untill then. I remember taking him to the eye doctor a few times.  Yes your right about Coumadin being a Rat Poisening drug.   I know there was somekind of big deal about coumadin , a year or two back !  and cardiologists and Doctors were useing diffrent thinners, in place of the coumadin.  
You might look online im sure there is something about it.  It was in the News !  

I will also check online and will check past records I have.  and will post any info I find on coumadin
