spikes at night h.b.p -bystolic med?

I am taking verapamil 120mg daily with bystolic 2.5 mg - spirolactone 12.5 mg and also o.c zantac 150 .daily
iv been on verapamil for 6years now and started getting symptoms like hypoglycemia  off and on in the day times
blood tests showed nothing wrong - cardio doctor put me on bystolic 2.5 mg ,this stopped the symptoms from happening and felt better ,However after about 4weeks on the medications. I started getting nightmares and vivid dreams and waking up suddenly with Rapid heart beats ! and a large spike in b.p !!  like 178 over 101 pulse 82 bpm
cardio doctor put me on 20 to 40 mg verapamil at night time - to counter act the dreaming and keep the pressure down at night.  well it worked for a while, but after time it came back again same old thing again, wondering if bystolic is that strong even at 2.5 mg daily ?? or could it be interacting with the verapamil im on as well ??
The cardio doctor more less threw in the towel on me ! and refues to deal with my problems.  I also get from verapamil swelling of ankles - and bloating of belly conditions  - clearly there is something wrong here!  as I never had these problems before !  I hope someone knows of a fix out there , something I can take to keep the nightmares away and vivid dreams from coming on at night !  as in the day im fine !! bp is down  and normal and no problems at all..   other than ankles swelling and bloating belly conditions .. (typical of verapamil ccb drugs)    
Im very sensitive to drugs and have a few allergies to meds.    but im refused by cardio doctor and primary doctors
to have tests done or change medications !  they say there is nothing they can do for me.. were at the end of the road ?   buck down and fight the side effects !  
I would but the night deal has to be stopped first !     any clues or ??

Info found out on rxlist - bystolic  causeing in most paitents - Edema ! acute renal failure - hyperstensitivity - vrticaria - allergie vascultis - angio Edema
it is also listed as " do not mix this medication with any other beta  blockers" or cal channel blockers " such as verapamil listed in big block letters !  

last night I suffered threw the worse ever side effects ! from Gerd another side effect from this drug and verapamil as well -  to internal shakes and jitters  no sleep ! and nightmares going on when I did sleep for 15 to 25mins at a time !  sitting upright ..
my left foot swelled twice its size last night and today as well.

I have stopped taking the Bystolic totaly  as I was on 2.5 mg daily.  small dose
its unbeliveable what happend.  
And im wondering what was in my cardio doctors head ,when he gave this bystolic drug !  there are way too meny side effects and problems found with this drug !
and when mixing drugs together - it only makes it worse !   omg !!

I am now turning to natural medications , as I can not tollerate chemicals at all.
this was the final blow to me !!!   unless the verapamil starts to work . as it has not since bystolic was used together.  

what happend to honest and good Doctors ?
all I get are Liers and guessing idiots , that push drug after drug to treat a symptom.
never to find the real problem and correct it .

I've been on boty Verapamil and Bystolic but never together. I went off Verapamil because of the bloating, gas and constipation. Went off the Bystolic cause of the breathing problems it was causing.
What is your condition that you need to be on a beta blocker or Calcium channel blocker?
I went to anogther Doc who told me verapamil doesn't absorb hence the bloating so he put me on Diltiazem (Cardizem) 24 hour release capsules. Hoping it doesn't cause the intesinal issues.

I completely understand your frustration but don't make the assumption that just because a substance is "natural", it must be good for you.  Natural chemicals can (and do) have the same side effects as synthetic ones.  Plus, you never know how they are processed.  Natural remedies can be very powerful substances.  That's why doctors are now interested in knowing the non-scrip medications you take.  Problem is, they don't always know much about them.  If you want to use these products, please find a holistic practitioner but continue to see your cardio also.

thanks for you responce :  I have high blood pressure and palpations off and on ..
reason for verapamil use.   did fine on it for years.. but ankle became swollen more and foot , after I had a foot operation done last year. the cardio doctor didnt like ,that my foot was swollen so bad - so he put me on bystolic - after I tryed it sample type at 2.5 mg - I was told it would work fine and wouldnt give me a problem ,not to worry about it ? like I knew ??  well since iv been on it.. seen cardio quack 4 times and he says each time , take it - dont take it , go back on it . guessing at my condition ??
well this time he said take 5mg and go down on the verapamil - I did  and lots of bad effects happend plus super high blood pressure going on .  

I called him and his office played it off -  and told me stop taking it  totaly now ..
and go back on the verapamil as before .. ? at this point I have no choice ..

the verapamil did cause swelling ankles  and feet - and bloating belly conditions .
even with a dieretic .  but it worked in lowering blood pressure and stopped the palps.

I can not figure why the cardio doctor put me on bystolic  beta blocker as looking up online .. it says not to mix any beta blocker with any cal channel blocker medication ?
go figure ..

Oh I understand about Natural medications totaly, some work and some don't  ! so do have some kind of side effects from them... and some do interact with chemical drugs
im aware of that !   been there and done that !!    
after 30 odd years -on chemical medications for h.b.p  one becomes upset and not a happy camper over side effects and problems . and dealing with doctors that act stupid or dont care beans about us !  after all were paying them for a service !!
weather it be cash or insurance -we pay !!    yes alot of doctors dont really understand or know fully about chemical medications they perscribe to us all.  that is true.

well anyways.. I would be clear of any chemical meds before taking natural meds.
and would seek a natural dr's help in doing so .. as before . been down that road before  and was un lucky with natural medications.. as they didnt work so well.
and I got sick from them ..  oh well ???   strike 2 !!
