sternal non-union complications

by Myrna234, Sep 10, 2008 08:04PM
I had a triple cabg procedure Jan.19,2007.  Recently I noticed sternal pain and discomfort..I wake up during the night with chills and fever.  Could this be related to sternal non-union?  Is this serious?  I an very hestitate about having my chest opened again.  What is the worse that could happen? Thanks so much for any information you can give me.

Sternal non union is a repairable problem. If it limits your activity, you should have it repaired. You may contact reconstructive surgeons who use rigid fixation like the talon. You can refer to the web sites to look up this problem. I am Dr. Arch S. Miller and am in the reconstructive surgery web site.
