stress test results

Hi there,

I am new here and a little concerned about my recent results. I am waiting to see a cardiologist for the second time, he did not have these results at my previous appt and did not seem too concerned otherwise. He did however mention I had a "click" in my heart but did not elaborate. Here is what it says:

The imediate post-stress myocardial images show defect in the antero-apical and apical walls of the left ventrical. The overall size of the defect is small. Resting images show nearly complete normalization of these perfusion defects. In addition, prominent breast tissue attenuation artifact was noted. The patient had appropriate HR response, and appropriate BP response. Negative for chest pain, mildly positive for ischemic ECG changes, and negative for significant arrhythmia. LV and RV uptake and size is normal. No evidence for transient ischemic dilation. Measured ejection fraction is 72%. In summary: imaging shows a small area of possible myocardial ischemia versus shifting breast tissue attenuation artifact. These abnormalities are in the distribution of the left descending artery.

I would like to mention that I had recently had chest pain and was put on beta blockers which gave me bad side effects including worsening chest pain and low heart rate and tingling in hands and feet, it has since been reduced but still have symptoms. I also had an echo which was apparently normal but mentions trivial regurgitation in both the mitral and tricuspid valves.

I appreciate your responses

You have very good heart pumping functionality with an EF 72% (normal is 55 to 75%)  Myocardial ischemia inconclusive possibly due to non-medical cause.
"The imediate post-stress myocardial images show defect in the antero-apical and apical walls of the left ventrical. The overall size of the defect is small. QUOTE: "I also had an echo which was apparently normal but mentions trivial regurgitation in both the mitral and tricuspid valves".  Trivial, mild, etc. are considered insignificant and almost always not progession of leakage or other medical problems.

Do you happen to know if they are referring to a possible congenital defect? As these tests usually are for CAD.

There are no structual anomolies noted, nor wall enlargements, and heart chamber is not dilated (enlarged) so that almost rules out any congenital defect.
Defect in walls is almost always ischemic (lack of blood/oxygen) and that according to the report is not conclusive or very mild.
