sudden deaths

Coul you explain what actually happens when they say that a person dies "suddenly" from a heart attack?  I've heard of so many people dying suddenly or "without warning" from what later is said to be a heart attack after autopsy or whatever. If these people had heart disease, wouldn't they have had symptoms or is it possible to pass away suddenly from a heart attack without ever knowing you had heart disease? It seems that this happens often when people are sleeping, but not all the time. It just seems like a mystery. One day you think someone's healthy, the next they've suddenly died from a "heart attack" (and they've never mentioned having symptoms) Could you explain how/why this happens?
