syndrome x ?

syndrome x ?

MY NAME IS MIGUEL, I'M 40 YEARS OLD, DON'T SMOKE, DRINK ONLY IN SOCIAL
OCCASIONS AND DO BICYLING (80 MILES A WEEK).  HAVE LOW CHOLESTEROL.
ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO I STARTED FEELING A PAIN IN MY CHEST AND
HEADACHE. I WENT TO THE CARDIOLOGIST AND HE RECOMMENDED I HAD A
THALLIUM STRESS TEST DONE.  THE RESULT WAS AN ISCHEMIA ON THE LOWER
RIGHT PART OF THE HEART.  THEN I HAD A CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION TO FIND
OUT IF I SUFFERED ARTERIOSCLEROSIS OR CORONARY DISEASE.  THREE DAYS
LATER I WAS GIVEN THE RESULTS WHICH WERE NEGATIVE FOR BOTH AND THE
DOCTOR DIAGNOZED SYNDROME X.  HE PRESCRIBED ASPIRIN (DAILY) AND
ANGIOTROPHIN (DITAZEN BETA BLOCKER) EVERY 12 HOURS AND GAVE ME AN
APPOINTMENT UNTIL 4 MONTHS LATER.  THE DOCTOR MENTIONED THAT THE
SYNDROME IS VERY RARE.  ALL THIS HAPPENNED 3 WEEKS AGO, BUT I'M STILL
HAVING CHEST AND BACK PAIN.  MY QUESTIONS ARE:
1.- DO YOU THINK THE DIAGNOZE AND TREATMENT ARE CORRECT?
2.- COULD YOU RECOMMEND A VERY GOOD CARDIOLOGIST   IN MEXICO CITY OR IN TEXAS?
3.- What is  syndrome x ?
thanks.

Dear Miguel,

The diagnosis seems appropriate fromthe description you are giving me. Syndrome X is a syndrome of chest piain in the seeting of normal coronary arteries and may be attributed to coronary spasm.  this is the reason that you have been placed on diltiazem.  A ggod cardiologist in San Antonio is Dr. O'Rourke and otherwise I could recommend the cardiology department at Southwestern.

I hope this has been useful. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to write back.
