tight sqeeze in the chest

Hi Im a male hispanic and just turned 30. for about 2 weeks i noticed this quick sqeeze in the upper center on my chest. It only last about half a second its realy quick. some time I feel it about 3 times a day.I have always been in good health, have never smoke or used any kind of drug. also there is no history of any kind of heart problems in my family. Nor any kind of health problem. I researched this and it may indicate coronary artery spasm. but the only thing that I find that CAS last from 5 minutes to 30. no were near what im feeling. Hope fully you can give some advise or point me in the right dirrection. thank you!!

Thanks for the detailed question. Of course, it is never possible to make a diagnosis over the internet. Having said that, you are a nonsmoker with no family history of coronary artery disease. If you also don't have high blood pressure or elevated cholesterol levels, you really have few risk factors for coronary artery disease. The pain that you described is not typical for angina, which is often related to exertion, improved with rest, and is often described as crushing, or a pressure sensation. While patients with variant angina are younger and do not exhibit classic cardiovascular risk factors, the duration of the chest pain that you describe also seems rather short to be angina or coronary artery spasm. There are many possible causes of chest discomfort that should be considered, including musculoskeletal problems, gastrointestinal reflux disease, and esophageal spasm. A visit to your doctor would be helpful so that with a full history, physican exam, and possibly an EKG, the cause of your chest discomfort can be correctly identified. Best of luck.
