: I am going through something similar. I am 19 years old, in good health,
and I don't smoke. For a few months I have been experiencing chest pain,
and tightness in the chest. It is not a constant pain, but it happens often
during the day. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a heart murmur,
mitral valve prolapse.I had a murmur as a baby but it went away, so I guess now
it is back.My doctor sent my for an echo-cardiagram which I had yesterday
and now I have to wait a week for the results. Does anybody know what could potentially
  be the problem?
Dear Kerry
Some doctors and many patients believe that mitral valve prolapse is associated with atypical chest pain. The echo will be able to confirm the diagnosis of mitral valve prolapse.
