trace findings on echo

I have read that some people have trace findings on echo test, but how common is it.? My echo test found trace on my tricuspid and mitral valve. Does anyone have the same findings on their echo report, if so do you have any symptoms. i get lightheaded and headachs, and i get this sharp chest pressure when i breath in n out.Is there anyone in here that has had trace on there echo report for years and symptom free? Thanks in advanced for any comments you may post.

Trace, slight, trivial, etc. heart valve leakage has no medical significance.  It is common and almost never progresses and there are no symptoms associated.  The the underlying cause are leaflets don't tightly close over the top of the valve opening and the blood may leak back into the upper chamber during the heart's pumping phase.

If what you say is true, why are there people in here here diagnosed with atrial and left ventrical enlarged heart from only having mild regurgitation. i think what you post is just text book talk and not all the truth. I have only trace and i am very symptomatic. I hope iam wrong, but the more i read on past post the more i understand whats going on.

I don't know of any indivduals' posts that just have mild MVR and that condition has soley caused an enlargement of heart chambers.  I have answered and read about 10,000 posts related to heart issues in the past 7 years, and  I personally have moderate to severe mitral valve regurgition for at least 7 years so I have a personal reference as well.

You either don't have slight valve leakage or your symptoms are from another source. Would be delighted to read the posts you are referring or any other information.  Most slight leakage of a valve is congenital and don't progress.  If there is valve damage from viral, bacteria, alcohol, medication, drugs, etc. that could progress.  My  MVR is the result of an enlarged left ventrical from ischemia, and the enlargement deformed the valve opening (orifice) and the medical opinion at the time was the possibility the orfice would return to normal configuration and the closing leaflets would prevent back flow of the blood....it didn't...and I have MVR.

I read a post from smiley2000 and she states she had mild mitral regurgitation and had her mitral valve repaired. She had ohs to repair or replace her heart valve. And there are also others who believe that just mild regurgitation caused their right atrial to enlarge from having mild regurgitation.. So when i read all these post it makes me think my doctors my be wrong. I deeply feel that trace finding on echo's  is not all that normal of a finding like they most doctors say it is, and its the start of trouble with a heart valve down the road. And i feel my trace regurgitation from the mitral and tricuspid valve is the reason why iam always dizzy and short of breath. and i get this sharp chest pressure.  Now i feel this pain in my calves and heels that feels like i have walked for miles, but am only walking around 2500 steps a day...i need to find the cause of all my symptoms, but i get no help from my doctors.I did pass a stress test just last month and iam driving to the hospital to get my results today. My Doctor told me over the phone that everything was normal, but i need to see the print out. My doctors always forgets  to explaine the details in my test results.Doctors are good at what they do, but when it comes to talking to people they stink, they should teach them that in school, how to communicate better with their clients

My answer that trace, etc. regurgitation not only comes from reading posts, but reading and researching the subject and that has provided an understaniding of  heart physiology and its anatomy intregrated into the cardiovascular system and fluid physics as it pertains hemodynamics.  It is impossible for a slight leakage of a valve to effect the hemodynamics of the human cardivascular system to the extent of any symptoms whatsoever or abnormal medical condition..  

The very worst scenario would be a scant reduction of cardiac output and that might cause the heart to beat a fraction of second faster to compensate.

I agree doctors do not communicate very well, and that should be a prority.  take care,
