triple bypass surgery

How long should my sister still be on a respiratorator after 7 dys of triple bypass surgery. I'm very concerned.

I'm sorry to hear you're having some difficulty. Bypass surgery is a major operation. Usually patients are on the ventilator for about 24 hours after surgery, but some patients need to be on a ventilator longer if there were complications during the procedure or if the patient has other underlying diseases such as lung disease. Please stay in close contact with your sister's physicians. I hope she is extubated soon and on the road to recovery. Best of luck!
