It's important for you to cut back on fried foods, saturated fat, sweets, desserts, sugar, and alcohol consumption. I guess I would try that for 6-8 weeks and have your triglycerides rechecked and see what they are before taking medication. You might want to ask your doctor for a referral to a registered dietitian; s/he can help you make changes that work with your lifestyle and that will become healthy habits. Good luck!

Yes I have to agree with Yvette. I had low cholesterol but very high trigs and nobody seemed to know why. They seemed confused because I dont drink alcohol. I was a very big sugar eater, lots in tea, chocolate etc. I cut out nearly all my sugar and the levels dropped.
