ì am 27 and was told ì have svt a few months ago ì was put on isoptin as ì could not sleep at night due 2 problem . Ì am now 5 weeks pregnant and stopped taking meds 4 days ago since then every night my heart rate while lyin in bed gets 2 90 and remains like this for 3 to 4 hours . Ì cant sleep again and get pain down my left arm and pins and needles aswel as slight pain and am worried its damaging my heart , with svt doesn heart rate get higher ?

Your heart rate at 90 is within the normal range and woudn't indicate any medical problem.  You should contact a doctor in regard to your symptoms as that could be a more serious condition.

For some insight regarding  SVTs, the condition oftened causes a burst of rapid heartbeats with a duration from seconds to hours. These bursts often start when the electrical impulse from a heartbeat recycles repeatedly through an extra conductive pathway. SVT may cause heartbeats from 160 to 200 times a minute.  

Isoptin is a calcium channel blocker that helps lower your heart rate.  Did your doctor tell you to stop taking the medication?  It is not possible to give you any definitive answers to your questions and your doctor would provide a better source as (s)he has your health history, other medication, pregnant implications with medication, etc.

I think that Kenkeith gave you some great advice when he said that your doc needs to be the one to monitor your situation.  You have to remember that being pregnant everything that you put into your body goes into the babies body as well and that is probably why the doc took you off of the channel blockers.  You have said that the worst of it for you is the issue w. sleep....i would call the doc and tell them that this is effecting you and ask them that if possible you would like them to advise you on something that is safe for you and the baby to take to help you with this.  There is alot that is out there on the market to help you but don't do it without your doc supervising you because with pregnancy the issues with our blood pressure is paramount in keep it fairly low until we deliver.  As far as the tingling in the arms and hands go it may very well be muscular or nerve related and i would just let the doc know about that as well but for women with heart issues we do not get the same sensation as men do in regards to pain in the left arm so you can relax there i think.  I had SVT as well and have delivered two kids and it didn't progress during the pregnancys but that again is your docs call.  Because it is electrical based it may just be a random run and never to increase or may do the opposite.  If it is something that just popped up during this pregnancy it could very well be that your system in out of kilter as they say because of the changing hormones, your vitals flucuating as the baby grows..etc. but the best advice i could possibly give you is to simply stay in touch with the doc on a regular basis  so that they can monitor everything that is going on w. your body but i would not worry too much about the SVT if it as Kenkeith has said is staying well within normal limits.....this is the time to concentrate on your pregnancy and its great that you are taking no chances and questioning everything .....i would too...congrats on the new addition to your family and i hope you all have a wonderful new years...........................
