upper right chest spasms

For the last few days I have had discomfort in my right chest area. A couple of times I got a sharp spasm which almost felt like a jolt of electricity giving me actual chills.  My back is also achy and i feel a burning sensation throughout my chest. Intermitently i am feeling small spasms in the chest area and I am thinking thats why I am feeling sore.  I don't believe that its cardiac related since it is on my right side that I am feeling the spasms, but I want to make sure. I have a doctors appt scheduled soon but I was hoping for some light to be shed as to what this feeling could be???
It occurs at rest and also upon exertion.
Thanks so much!!!

You might want to add your "background info" to this post.  You can just add it as a "comment."  Some people may not see both posts, but if you put them together, more people may be able to offer some advice, help.

I totally get the costochrondritis pain!  I have occasional flair-ups and it really hurts.   Advil and a heating pad sometimes help with the spasms.  I'm not sure if what you are describing is costo or not, but have you tried Ibuprofen, Tylenol and/or a heating pad?  Maybe that would help until you see your doctor.

Congrats on quitting smoking and on the rave review!!
