vagus nerve the real culprit

by terrilee1971, Apr 21, 2008 11:44AM
There is alot of research out there about us LONE AFIBBERS.It seems in alot of people there irregular heart rates are caused by a sensitive or overactive vagus nerve.Big meals, laying down, bending over, caffeine, chocalate and especially ice cream or other frozen treats can stimulate the vagus nerve to over react. Ovoiding some of these triggers can really improve afib, flutter, pvc, pac's and the like. Good luck to all and god bless.

I am a 56 year old woman who is over weight but working on it. I have been suffering with fast heart rate since I was 25 years old and skinny. Until I stumbled on this web site, I had no clue why. I have had stomach issues for many years and usually I do have A Fib 20 minutes after eating and or when I sleep at night, day naps are really bad for me and even more so if I have just eaten lunch. So I have learned to make myself move around. Not one Cardiologist has mentioned this problem. I have been through every test on my heart that you could imagine. No clogs, no heart damage but have suffered with high blood pressure. Now I am having major issues, I am going into A Fib at least once a week and lasting for 2 1/2 days. Always after I eat and MSG is out of my food. I did find a link with that. Is it possible for someone who is not very active to get this? It seem to get worse after they put me on Sotalol and the highest dose? Could that have turned A fib into this? I can't seem to get help from the 3 Cardiologist that I have been too. They just scratch their heads?
