The septumSepta Septoplasty is the wall that separates the left and right heart' ventrical chambers. Depending on the distoration of the normalNormal saline flush anatomy of the septum and the underlying cause dictates the treatment and prognosis.
The septum provides a pathway for electrical impulses for both the right and left ventricles. If the left ventricle's electrical impulse is disrupted by a damaged (distorted) pathway due to the enlargement, can cause a heart attack.
The treatment available is an alcohol septal ablation induces a controlled heart attack, in which the portion of the interventricular septum that involves the left ventricular outflow tract is infarcted and will contract into a scar. Some patients are best served by surgical myectomy (surgical removal to reduce size), alcohol septal ablation, or medical therapy is an important topic and one which is intensely debated in medical scientific circles. Worst case scenarios.
