verapamil??

verapamil??

has anyone been treated for SVT / AVNRT with verapamil? my cardiologist wants to switch me from atenolol to verapamil incase i decide to try to get pregnant. i've done some research on it and it's still not that great for pregnancies, especially in the first trimester when the baby's organs are developing. she said it might do better in pregnancies because since it's a calcium channel blocker, it will not make me have pre-labor probs with my uterus. i guess beta blockers can have that affect on pregnant women. anyways, any suggestions / input would be greatly appreciated!!!

I used a beta blocker throughout my pregnancy (Toprol XL) and never had a problem.  My doctor said it was fine to use.  My baby is healthy and normal.  I'm so glad that I was able to use the BB because otherwise I have heart racing and palps.  Pregnancy can exacerbate that anyway!  I hope you find a medication that you feel good about using during pregnancy.
