Cardiomyopathy can improve-are you being followed up w/a cardiologist? They should be following you closely for the first 6mths until you stabilize. I also feel your OB MD was negligent & would follow up. I would suggest a cardiologist at a different hospital then the OB-as a nurse I think someone objective would be important as opposed to those who work for the same place-the good old boy system of watching out for each other. If you want another baby -take your time, as you are young, and consult w/a high risk OB MD & see what he recommends. Best of luck.
Personally, I think that doctor should be reported and you should find a new one. At least write a scathing letter explaining the treatment (or lack of treatment) you received. Your life and the life of your child was put at risk because of his apathy. I'm sorry you went through such a rough time.
Have you looked up information on PPCM - post partum cardiomyopathy? I thought some women improved after awhile?
First of all, congrats on the new edition and I'm sorry to hear of all your troubles during your pregnancy. As far as whether or not you will be able to have anymore children it is hard to say. I have heard there are different levels of cardiomyopathy and I guess it all depends on how bad it is. I would think that if you would become pregnant again you would be "high risk" and they would watch you like a hawk. This is really something you need to discuss with your cardiologist, they would probably know best. Good luck to you and enjoy the little one. My son is 18 months old already and I wish I knew where the time went already!!
