was it my pregnancy and will i ever have a kid again?

i am not used to ppl being blunt so if you could find it in your heart to just ya kind of sugar coat the answer haha...this is what happened--->

I became pregnant of january 2007 i went until my my 2nd trimester until i started swelling. i talked to my gyno but she told me nothing was wrong. i started swelling more and more eachday. and stil she said nothing was wrong. my skin felt like it was going to pop off. i told her every week how uncomfortable i was but still she said i was normal. the swelling moved from my feet to my legs to my stomach and then i found that i couldnt sleep or the little work i would do like walking for awhile or picking something i would be out of breathe walking from the car to the office for a doctor visit would take the breathe out of me. i am only 20 so i didnt know at the time that many things were wrong with my pregnancy. on oct 3rd i had a doc. appt. and my blood pressere was high and i was 1 cm dialated so they admitted me into the hospital. i was still not dialating more so around 5pm or so the put something in me to help induce me over night and then in 5am they were just going to induce me. so at 5 am they induced me and at 6 or so they broke my water (stupid me i thought that i was almost fully dialated because i dont understand y they poped it that early. then at 8 am i got the epidural. they told me he wasnt turned right so they weregoing to wait until he turned. then around 3 or 4 they asked everyone to leve that iwas going to start pushing even tho they knew he still wast turn right well i have pushed that button like every 6 min. ( the nurse told me no more and the doc. told me to push it as much as i needed) so i start pushing and then the doctor came in and tried an hr later ( i had been pushing for 3 hrs so far) and told me i can contuinue pushing if i want but he wont come out so if i want she can go ahed to do an emergency c-section. well duh iwant you to get him out healthy. my epidural had been running out during my pushing and they had to up it 3 times i think lol or 2. i had been on oxygen since they admitted me. so my family was very worried  my son came out fine but i couldnot breathe i could feel everything during my c-section. so my son is born at 8:30 pm oct 4th. i finally get to hold himand he is so beautiful. i still have oxygen on. the next morning i wake up and i cant breathe, my throat is all dry and i cant talk so i call the nurse and she says dont wworry just cough. but i couldnt take a deep breathe let alone cough so after 2 calls she called the pulmonary doctors and they sent me to the icu which sucked majorly then i  found out that i have cardiomyopthy and everyone was treating me like it was my fault like i didnt go to the doctor they kept asking the same questions over and over and over again like were you under doctors care the whole time did you or did you not stay under doctors care the whole time. YES yes i did i called her everytime i thought something was wrong and she told me nothing was wrong. so now i hAve cardiomyapothy and possibly never to have kids again but i want another one i want t have it me what are the chances that could happen

Cardiomyopathy can improve-are you being followed up w/a cardiologist?  They should be following you closely for the first 6mths until you stabilize. I also feel your OB MD was negligent & would follow up.  I would suggest a cardiologist at a different hospital then the OB-as a nurse I think someone objective would be important as opposed to those who work for the same place-the good old boy system of watching out for each other.  If you want another baby -take your time, as you are young, and consult w/a high risk OB MD & see what he recommends.  Best of luck.

Personally, I think that doctor should be reported and you should find a new one. At least write a scathing letter explaining the treatment (or lack of treatment) you received. Your life and the life of your child was put at risk because of his apathy. I'm sorry you went through such a rough time.

Have you looked up information on PPCM - post partum cardiomyopathy? I thought some women improved after awhile?

First of all, congrats on the new edition and I'm sorry to hear of all your troubles during your pregnancy.  As far as whether or not you will be able to have anymore children it is hard to say.  I have heard there are different levels of cardiomyopathy and I guess it all depends on how bad it is.  I would think that if you would become pregnant again you would be "high risk" and they would watch you like a hawk.  This is really something you need to discuss with your cardiologist, they would probably know best.  Good luck to you and enjoy the little one.  My son is 18 months old already and I wish I knew where the time went already!!
