weird "electrical" stuff going on in my legs

I have chronic venous insufficiency in my left leg and not much better circulation in my right. For the past 7+ months, I wake up at night with weird localized pains, alternating with numbness, alternating with an internal sort of vibration sensation in either or both legs. This only happens at night. During the day I have chronic pain in my bad leg, edema in both legs, but that's about it, and it is nothing new.  At night, I wake up with a pain, for example, behind my left knee, which goes away shortly only to be replaced by total numbness in three toes on that leg's foot, then only to be replaced by a sharper pain (like a muscle spasm level of pain) in the other leg,with a bizarre sensation that the inside of my leg is wildly vibrating (though nothing is "shaking" visually).  I have been writing this off to my circulation issues, and that may very well be the case, but I have dealt with the CVI for 18 years now, and all these symptoms are brand new. Any thoughts?
