what to do

passing out,3 times in 8 days, last time, hit my head on corner of computer desk, cut eye ball, lid, nose, face, etc. tryed to reach my card doc at e.r.,still no call back after three days, should i be taking a nitro tab after i pass out? I've had 2 strokes in10/09, a heart attack 8 months ago, a hip replacement 2 months ago. I have high bld pressure,4 restricted arteris, and doc has me listed to take some tilt test in 8 weeks, and says i may need a pace maker if    the results come back neg. will i not last that long because of the passing out,i was out for 45 minutes on 15th and 35 minutes, the last time,2 days ago,if i could get the doc to call back i'd ask to move the test up sooner,or should i just wait, and hope i feel better?

Also, I see you had a hip replacement.  Sometimes there can be complications months later.  Well, I hope by now you are getting help at the hospital!!!

also, please please please DO NOT drive; you just never know when you're going to pass out - sometimes there are no warning signs.

I passed out driving in Jan 2009 - no warning and was stupid and drove until the next bout of pre-syncope that scared me enough to stop driving, I couldn't live with myself if I hurt my children or someone else - fainting can be a very serious thing.

I agree with vienna and others.  I'm surprised someone hasn't told you to see a doctor immediately...and drive you immediately to ER.  Even if you feel better that would no rule out something serious is going on.  Sometimes one can have a serious episode with some heart cell damagea and then feel better, but if the there is immediate treatment one can prevent further damage or reverse some damage.

Q. ..."should I be taking a nitro tab after i pass out?"

>>>>>>The nitro should be taken if you have angina pectoris, and it provides relief from the chest pain for a short period of time. It dilates your coronary vessels enabling a better blood flow.  If you want medication for a longer period there are nitrates, you can talk to your doctor for that medication.

Has there been a dx for your fainting?  It oftened is due to low bllod pressure to the brain. Did you feet dizzy or light-headed before passing out?  Does the doctor believe a slow heart rate is causing your syncope, and therefore you may need a pacemaker?

You want to take care of that condition as passing out at the wrong time can be fatal as you well know.

Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.  Take care and see a doctor asap.

Take an aspirin and get to the ER.  This isn't a game of chance you are playing!

Vienna is correct, you should be going to the ER and not checking out an Internet forum for answers. Get yourself to the hospital and get checked out, not worth taking any chances!

Good luck,

Jon

oh no, you need a TTT right away not in 8 weeks and to be seen asap to make sure no internal injuries have happened

a pacemaker is pretty easy surgery for most and will help those fainting spells, but it may need to be set a few times in case you're like me fainting with hr's in the 50's - they finally stopped mine with a HR of 60 =)

Hi, I would go to the emergency right now! Do not hesitate to go, after all this is an emergency case you are in! Take things with you for overnight. I don’t know about your hospital, but here in Canada they might just keep you in for a couple of days.
I wasn’t passing out, but felt awful, and the next test I had a date for was about 2 weeks from the day I went in to the emergency, They asked how I was feeling, I said: 'like I was dying' ! They were ordering that test right away.
Seeing you history they will take you seriously!
My BEST!
