?why is my heart skipping a beat every few beats/

I woke up with an uneasy feeling. I checked my pulse. It is about the normal rate, but it misses a beat every few beats

It does sound like PVC's. Many people confuse PVC's as a skipped beat when in fact they are extra beats. With a PVC the heart beats early but stays on rhythm so there is a pause until the next beat. Since there is a pause the heart fills with more blood than normal so the next beat seems more forceful and noticeable.

See your family doctor first, they can get this resolved for you or point you in the right direction.

I guess that's the thing to do - mean going to see the doctor. But in my case they always look at the ECG where it says PVC's and that's the end of it.

You could be having premature ventricular contractions (PVC's), which are common and harmless.  You need to see a doctor, though, to find out what is going on.  Out here on the internet, we don't really know what your heart is doing.  It's probably no big deal, but you need to see a doctor to find out.
