why the sweeling

My husband was 53 and had 4 bypasses 10 years ago. His left leg is over twice the size of the right one now.it has been this way since surgery and we cant get an answer why.It also has a thick gray scale on it.

my mom had the same surgery 9 years ago and still has problems with her leg. does your husband elevate his leg? does he wear a tet sock? those two things help my mom. take care. Remar

Did the surgeon remove a vein from his leg to use in bypass.
After my open heart. My leg has felt cold to touch and has a brown look to the skin.
When they remove a vein the blood can not drain as well as before and tends to leave the leg cold and discolored. A tet sock from knee to foot is the best to help in circulation
improvements. The leg needs to drain in order to reduce swelling and help with over all look and feel of the leg. But, it is to be worn for a day then removed and then a fresh one for another day. Alway lotion the leg to help with the dry skin. I have found these thing have worked for me. You may want to ask your doctor advise.
