wife has chest pain

by hbomb123, Jan 02, 2002 12:00AM
my wife has eppisodes of chest pains, fluttering, skipping, usually after exertion or stress. she  has had a stress test and radioactive material injected after stress test . also had holter monitor for 24 hours, monitor showed that she was indead having these sympthoms. the chest pains also drain her of all energy. my wife is 32 years old weighs 110 lbs and was very active until these problems started . so my questions are this: is there a chance that she could be having a heart attack when she has the chest pain and also are there any other tests that could show anything besides the catherzation? and what benifiet would the catherzation be? also she started taking a beta blocker called Lopressor 50 mg twice daily given by her heart doctor

Dear bomb,
It would be unlikely for a 32 year old woman to be having a heart attack with only brief episodes of chest pain.  At this point the only test left would be a heart catheterization to definitely exclude coronary artery disease.  The benefit vs. the risks of the test would be up to her doctor and her.  Lopressor is a beta-blocker and helps to decrease skipping and fluttering heart beats.
