HELP 21 yr. old high heart rate w/symptoms

Hello, I'm 21yr old female and I've been having some issues with my HBP & HR.
First- couldn't sleep at night with pounding heart beat and just felt weird.  Went to work
and had shortnessof breathe, sweaty and a cardio nurse was dropping off her child and she checked me.
it was 146/86- 125, and said it sounded irregular to her. Went back home rested all day seem to be doing better. Just tired and exhausted.
Had some dull pain  in chest .
Dr did EKG and ECHO-normal and now I have a Halter Monitor.
Then week later same thing but, BP didn't go high just my heart rate105-127 with same symptoms but alittle worse.
Wake up nausea and my back hurting, dull pain in arm & neck, very weak.
All of this is at rest, church and just waking up. Heart disease does run in our family.
triple by pass, mvp, hbp, mvp, pulmnory embolism, father had AA.
Just really confused, why am I having this and they can't find anything??
ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Hi i read your post and am sorry that you are going thru this at such a young age. The only part of heart disease that will run in your family that would directly effect you is if any family member has had a heart attack at age 50 or younger so in that arena you can relax a little.  To me it sounds like you should make sure that whatever doc you are seeing is a heart doc not a family doc in this instance.  Our hearts are our own and mvp is not hereditary, nor is artery problems w. bypasses unless it is diet induced and you eat the same way, pulm. emb. are not hereditary either.  Alot of it other than the the mvp definately has to do with lifestyle believe me.  Alot of symtoms (symptoms) that you are describing throw up a red flag to me however that same flag is thrown w. anxiety as well.  Your b/p was on the high side but a normal pulse rate for a non athlete runs between 70-120 and stress could throw it higher.  I think your doc sounds like he/she is super pro active w. your plan of action here and a holter will pick up anything even while you sleep so that is great.  You may just be scaring yourself a little w. your family hx. and have to remember that our hearts are like our fingerprints...they are our own and one of a kind....if you get a clean bill of health from the doc you may want to think about doing some healthy lifestyle things like joining a gym or walking during lunch or cutting out all caffeine from your diet.  Ultimately your doc will lead you in the right direction but in your case i think it is safe to say that you need to put your family history out of your mind and know you are different...good luck my friend....

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!  I 've been having good days and bad days.  Since it started overall 10 days, I had 3 bad days.  I asked the family about heart attacks and my Aunt (mom sister) had a mild one at 44.
Well, I'll find out Fri on my results. Thank you

Hi gkids1424,

Sorry to hear about your symptoms.  I recently went through something similar.  My condition is completely benign, and based on the ECG and ECHO you had, yours is likely benign as well (though let you doctor make that call).  That being said, I am not entirely sure you actually have a heart condition.  Everything you are describing sounds like the onset of panic attacks.  I suffered from those as well for a while.  With a panic attack, you blood pressure will spike and you heart will race.  This is due to the surge of adrenalin.  For some panic attacks will last only minutes, for others (like me) they can last for hours.  But like any other benign condition, panic attacks will not kill you.

Again, have the holter and see what your doctor says.  Until your doctor tells you it is more serious, just try to stop thinking about it... I know that is hard... boy do I know.. but it will help.
