Mobitz type 2 AV block

Please help me I am worried !.  My Mum ( who is quite young ) suffered carbon monoxide poisoning from a wood burner last winter. She was taken to hospital with palpitations but it went away after the burner was put out of use. Six weeks after the CO poisoning event they placed a 24 hour tape ( cardiac ) to see if anything was wrong. Six months later we are called into see a cardiologist. He stated that she had a Mobitz 2 episode whilst asleep while the tape was on,it may have been a brief episode. ECG was normal on day of visit to Hospital.

She has no symptoms, heart rate normally around 57bpm,  Blood pressure  110 / 60 ( always has been low )

The Doctor we saw was quite young and basically scared me half to death by saying, it could be serious and she may need a pace maker ASAP.  She is fitter then me and cycles 20 miles a week. I feel it was all a over reaction.

Basically I am seeking reassurance that this may not be so bad because I also heard at night mobitz 2  can be relatively normal ?

I hope someone can help me :-)

I don't know much about heart block so you hopefully someone else will jump on who does but I would definitely get a second opinion before putting a pacemaker in.  Best of luck sorting it out.

Are you sure it was Mobitz 2? Shouldn't happen during the night (or at least if it does it should during the day as well, since with higher HR and during excercise it should get worse, your Mom should faint). There is a think called pseudo-Mobitz II when there is a non-conducted PAC or a simply misdiagnosed Mobitz 1 which is in most case benign. I know this lead is quite old, but I had a quite similar case and I'm interested about what has happened to your Mom afterwards. Did she get a PM? Half year after hypoxia, its a bit strange.
Mobitz 2 during sleep shouldn't be normal, Mobitz 1 due to sleeping apnea might. The vagal nerve can due funny tricks to your heart, but not a Mobitz 2!! Or at least I have not find one case on the Internet supporting that (and believe me, I did a thorough search reading scientific journals and med presentations and med guidelines for treatments).
