? Regarding Tachycardia

I was recently diagnosed with Tachycardia after having an irregular heart beat for almost 8 months. My heart would speed up and skip a beat then return to normal. It would happen almost daily, then would stop for months on end. I had an EKG performed, and this showed that my heart rate was normal, but my pulse was really fast.

Should I be worried about this? What are the chances that it will turn into something more dangerous?

Well, all the doctor's I've spoken with regarding my heart all said it was nothing to worry about, and didn't offer to do anymore tests. Having a normal EKG but a fast pulse seemed to perplex them, but not worry them.

the best thing here is an event monitor to wear for a few weeks and this should give a better picture of where the tach is originating and can also explain what type of arrhythmia it could be
this may resolve when the anemia is treated
just a thought

I have the same exact symptoms as you.  My heart will speed up skip beats and after a few mins return to normal.  I had all the tests done like you and all came back normal.  All that showed up is tachycardia because my pulse is always between 88-130 at rest.

I'm still working with the doc to find out what causes these episodes.  The ones that wake me out of a dead sleep are the worst.  I can't wait to get to the bottom of this.  I will let you know what I find out on my end and would appreciate if you do the same.

Thanks.

All I know is that I have an Arrythmia and I guess mild Tachycardia. After than diagnosis I had a blood test done to check my thyroid, Cholesterol, sugar levels, everything. And it was all normal. I'm just mildly anemic.

what kind of tach was it ?
sounds a bit like svt and most are not dangerous but can be a nuisance and off putting
have u seen a cardio or an ep to get an evaluation and see if this can be treated with meds or otherwise.
there can be tachycardia in the heart for lots of different reasons ...thyroid,,low blood sugar..anxiety,,,dehydration......etc and of course an arrhythmia
but if it is happening frequently u should get checked out for yourself
