2 rare syndromes that might be connected

Hi everybody! I've got an 13 year old son that has been diagnosed with long QT (cardiological) and congenital Pseudohypoparathyroidism (thyroidical). Both these conditions I am told are extremely rare. He is taking an antiarrythmica for the elongated QT syndrome, however the QT time did only change significantly for the better when he was eventually diagnosed with PHPT and given active D and Calcium.  I always felt bad about him taking a heart pill, that originally did not seem to help him and where nobody can tell you what the long term effects are on a growing child. The PHPT, as I found out in a medical article, can also cause an elongated QT signature, which makes sense to me  as the condition blocks the receptors that regulate Calcium (simply put). The doctors now want to put him on a different antiarrythmica (the old one is not produced anymore) I would like to phase the old one out and see what it does to the heart signature when he continues to take the D and Calcium. There is to my knowledge absolutely no information of a possible link between the two deseases and as it is so rare - there could be one!!!!  IS THERE ANYBODY KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT A POSSIBLE CONNECTION BETWEEN THESE 2 CONDITIONS OR KNOWS SOMEONE......!!!!!!!!!   Please help!!!!!!

Sorry you are not getting any inputs here.  You may want to try posting on the heart disease forum:  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Heart-Disease/show/72  ;

There may be other forums in the MedHelp family that can help.  I am not familiar with the conditions you have identified, so I can't translate that to other possible forums.

Hope you find some help, and that you son gets better.
