2 weeks post op ablation

by middy, Nov 04, 2009 04:36PM
I had my ablation 2 weeks ago for atrial tachycardia - rt side.  I was unable to take the antiarrythmia drugs.  The following day and ever after I have had severe sob and pressure chest pain.  Then 3 days ago I started tach. again.  Today was the 3rd tachy attack and it has been going on for several hours.  I've taken extra inderal and valium but it goes on.  I went to see the EP this am before the tachy started and they did an ekg and she pronounced me cured even though I have sob and pain.  She blamed that on my lungs.  I have a lung doc and saw him immediately after.  He said I still have heart disease - not cured and he felt my pulse, arrythmia had started.  He said the problem was not my lungs. Had recent CT scans. He told me to see my rheumy.  Talk about a run around. Have any of you experioenced anything like this???And what do I do next??

My advice to you- find another electrophysicist cardiologist and get another opinion. I would not go back to this one since she is dismissing your symptoms. Heart racing is NOT a lung/breathing problem.
Good luck, keep us posted on your news.

Sorry to read of your difficulty and agree you should see a new/different Cardiologist/EP.

You didn't mention what you HR is when in Tachycardia.  The best I can offer is a couple of questions that may help others understand.

You say the problem is driven by right side atrial tachycardia. Does this mean the atrial high HR continues and much of it results in ventricle HB (I think that is the HB we feel, measure).

I suffer from Atrial Fibrillation, which I guess could be called left side atrial tachycardia, but I have never heard it called that.  All this means is I'm don't have the training/experience to juggle the terminology.

I hope you find an EP that gets you on the fix.  From the little I know about ablation,  I do understand that it often takes more than one try to achieve success.
