21bpm; history of hypertrophfic cardiomyopathia, should I get a second opinion?

I have a history of Hypertophic Cardiomyopathy since I was 12 years old. I found out after fainting while playing football (yes am a girl, yes I played neihborhood football (tight end), and yes I was REAL good ;)

Each time I have heart related symptoms and go for an echo they find moderate concenric left ventricular hypertophy. My most recent echo was as follows:

BP 100/65    HR 65      Ejection Fraction 55%
moderate convectric left ventricular hypertopy
IVSD  1.6cm
lVPWd  1.62cm
ivs:LVPW ration 0.99
LVIDd  3.78
LVIDs  2.62
LV FS (Teichholz) 30.7
LV FS (cube) 30.7
EF Teichholz 59%
Ao root deameter 2.4cm
La dimension (AP) 3.3cm
LA: Ao ratio 1.37 ration

all other results normal :)

To answer your question, no I don't have high blood preasure, I've had BP studys done and my average BP is around 109/67. I should note I am over weight however (225) no diabetes (my A1C is a 5), lips and cholestoral are normal.

Recently I had a month long ECG done to see if my heart was the cause of my passing out. It showed some PAC and PVC (I am not worried about them I know they are harmless) and one Tachy that was 160bpm at rest.   No AFib or Vetch.

When I was in the hospital (I fainted again and the monitoring center sent me)  my cardiologist came and he didn't recognize me. He asked who my cardiologist was and why was I placed on a heart monitor.  I looked at him and said you are my doctor and you placed me on it a week ago.  He said he don't remember  are you sure?.... I said didn't you at least look at my records, its on my chart.........?  He just walked out and never came back........

When the montly ECG was done his nurse called and said everything was fine.  I asked her was a 23pbm normal?  she said yours never went that low.  I told her it did it happen while I was beeing monitored one day at an infussion clinic (I have RA and take Remacaid). It was the nurses that suggested I should go see a cardiologist.

She said the test showed nothing of the sort................Well after the hospital mix up I requested my records from the ECG and ECHO study. And I was right.............

The monthly ECG it showed that my heart reate went down as low as  21bpm.  This rate happen in the afternoon when driving home from work (from the time shown on the test).

I also had several more one at 23 bpm, and 2 measurements at 29 bpm all around 10:00 pm at night (I go to sleep around 11:30).

Two weeks later the nurse at the cardiologist calls again and says I have your results???? I said you already told me my results, she says no I did not the doctor was on vacation he wasn't able to read your results (HUH???).

I told her we did talk and repeated what she said, I asked her about the results of my echo. She said the doctor never ordered an echo on me (Rolls eyes)

I sighed and said they did one at the hospital I have a results right here on my dining table.  I picked up the results and read them to her "Reading test result performed by: (insert his name here).  she said well like I said you are fine go back to your regural doctor, She then hung up.....

My question after all of that is simple, whith the 3-4 recording of a 20 something heart rate, hypertropy cardiomyopathy and the very mixed up doctor should I get a second opion from another cardiologist?

Your cardiologist sounds as though he has some kind of problem that renders him unreliable.  When it comes to hearts, I like 'reliable' a lot!

Since you have a recorded heart rate in the low 20s, yeah, I would definitely locate another cardiologist for a second opinion.

Make sure that he has copies of your records before your appointment with him, so that you're on the same page.
